Grandma and Grandpa Knight RIP

Monday, May 10th, 2010

Sadly on February 5th 2010 my Grandma Knight passed away. As I have lived in the UK most of my life I didn’t get a chance growing up to spend as much time as I would have liked with my American family. Even though I didn’t know my grandparents too well I do know that I will miss them in my life.

Since my Grandmas death I have been sent images by my sister, here are a few.

From memory, my Grandma was a beautiful and glamorous woman who always looked immaculate. I remember her tall stature, kind eyes and slight Southern twang. She loved books and shared her love of reading with the community as a tutor and a coordinator of the Los Angeles County Literacy program. She spent her years assisting residents of the Antelope Valley to improve their reading, writing and language skills. Grandma’s hard work over the years resulted in the Quartz Hill programme having the largest enrolment of students, as well as the largest number of recruited tutors in the Los Angeles County library system.

My Grandpa Jack was a Colonel in the USAF, where he flew and tested F-5a supersonic jets. He graduated from West Point and was based at Edwards Air force base with Chuck Jaeger. He also flew Skyraiders in the Vietnam war.
